A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals held oral argument on Tuesday on the government’s motion to stay the district court’s ruling that enjoined the Trump administration from deploying the National Guard in Los Angeles. Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil (S.D.N.Y.) on Monday dismissed for lack of standing a lawsuit brought by two labor unions challenging the Trump administration’s cutoff of approximately $400 million in federal funds to Columbia University. The lawsuit also sought to “prospectively enjoin” the administration from terminating or pausing the disbursal of more than $5 billion in funds and contracts to Columbia.
